A FAB balance check for salary means checking the balance of the account your salary is paid into. This page is for salaried account holders — people whose employer pays their salary into a FAB bank account. If your salary goes onto a prepaid salary card instead, such as Ratibi, the check is different. That is a card check, not an account check, and it uses the PPC portal. This guide explains both, so you use the right method first time.
For the main guide to every FAB balance method, see FAB Balance Check. For the “has my salary landed?” guide, see Salary Check.
Salary account or salary card: which do you have?
This is the first question to answer, because the two are checked in different places.
A salary account is a FAB bank account. Your employer transfers your salary into it each pay cycle. You hold an account number, and usually a debit card linked to that account. You can see the balance in the FAB Mobile app and in FAB Online Banking, and you can see every transaction, including the salary credit itself.
A salary card is a prepaid card, such as Ratibi. There is no bank account behind it. Your employer loads your salary onto the card, and you can only spend what has been loaded. Ratibi is built for workers earning up to AED 5,000 per month, and it has no chequebook and no overdraft. The FAB Mobile app may not show a balance for a card-only product. Salary cards are checked on the PPC portal, not in the app.
If you are unsure which you have, ask your employer. For salary-card checks in full, see Ratibi Card Balance Check and Prepaid Card Enquiry.
Checking a salary account in the FAB Mobile app
The FAB Mobile app is the fastest way to check a salary account. It is available on the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. After login, your account balance appears on the home screen, with transactions listed below. You can also manage accounts and debit and credit cards, view transactions with logos, categories and smart filters, and receive real-time alerts.
To check your salary, open the app and look at the account your salary is paid into. Check the transaction list, not just the balance. The salary credit should appear as a separate entry, with its amount and date.
Never share your login password or OTP with anyone. FAB warns that it never asks for PIN, OTP or password via phone, SMS, email or WhatsApp.
Checking in online banking
FAB Online Banking at bankfab.com shows the same information as the app, with more room for statements. Log in through the official site — type bankfab.com yourself, never follow a link from a text message or email — then go to Accounts. You will see your balance, your statements and your full transaction history.
Online banking is best if you want to download a statement or check several months of salary credits. The app is better for a quick daily check. Both show the same balance.
Salary credit alerts
The FAB Mobile app offers real-time alerts. Set up an alert for incoming credits, and your phone will tell you the moment your salary lands. This is the simplest salary check of all: you do not need to open the app and look. The alert does the work.
Alerts also help you spot problems early. If no alert comes on your usual pay day, check with your employer. If a transaction you do not recognise appears, call FAB on 600 52 5500 straight away.
Checking a salary card: the PPC portal
If your salary goes onto a Ratibi or another prepaid salary card, do not use the app. Use the Prepaid Card Inquiry (PPC) portal. There are two official portals:
- FAB portal: https://ppc.bankfab.com/PPCInquiry/
- Magnati portal: https://ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry/
Magnati is FAB’s payments technology partner. No registration or app is needed. Type the address into your browser yourself. On the Magnati portal the fields are the last 4 digits of the card, your Card ID, and a CAPTCHA — verified on the live portal. The FAB portal asks for the details shown on its own page; enter only what the live page asks for. The Card ID is a separate reference number printed on the card or on its welcome-envelope carrier. It is NOT the card number. The portal never asks for your PIN or OTP.
You can also check a salary card at a FAB ATM, or in the Payit wallet app: register as a “Ratibi Cardholder”, scan your Emirates ID, then add your card ID and the last 2 digits of your card number, enter your mobile number, enter the 6-digit SMS code, and create a 4-digit PIN. See FAB Salary Card Balance Check for the full card guide.
If your salary has not arrived
Check with your employer first. Your employer controls when the salary is sent, and in most late-pay cases the money has not left the employer yet. Ask whether the salary was sent, on what date, and to which account or card. Salaries in the UAE are usually paid through the Wage Protection System (WPS), the electronic salary-transfer scheme supervised by MOHRE and the Central Bank of the UAE, so the transfer is recorded.
Next, check the right account — if you hold more than one FAB account, make sure you are looking at the salary account — and look at the transaction history, not only the balance. If your employer says the salary was sent but it has not arrived, call FAB on 600 52 5500. Do not pay anyone who promises to release your salary for a fee.
Under the UAE Wage Protection System, your salary for a month is due on the 1st of the following month (MOHRE Ministerial Resolution No. 340 of 2026, in force 1 June 2026). Your employer may pay earlier, but if it has not arrived by the 1st, it is late.
Other methods, and what to avoid
You can also check a salary account at a FAB ATM, or by phone on 600 52 5500. An SMS balance check is also available from your registered mobile number: text BAL followed by the last 4 account digits to 2121. The short code 2121 is confirmed on bankfab.com’s official FAQ, and BAL is the keyword in the majority of independent guides (one guide gives ABAL instead).
FAB does not offer balance checks through WhatsApp. In 2026 the Central Bank of the UAE directed all UAE banks to stop using WhatsApp for customer communication and financial services. Never share your PIN, OTP or account details on WhatsApp, and never send a photo of your card to anyone.
