You can check your FAB balance online without visiting a branch. Account holders use the FAB Mobile app or FAB Personal Online Banking. Prepaid salary card holders, such as Ratibi card holders, use the PPC portal. This guide covers the online methods only, and how to stay safe.
FAB was formed in April 2017 when First Gulf Bank and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) merged. NBAD no longer exists as a separate bank. FAB is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. Its official website is bankfab.com — type it yourself, and never follow a balance-check link sent by SMS or email.
Which Online Method Fits You?
- You hold a FAB bank account: use the FAB Mobile app or FAB Online Banking. Your balances appear after login.
- You hold a prepaid salary card only (Ratibi or another WPS card): use the PPC portal. The app may not show a balance for a card-only product, because there is no bank account behind it.
- You hold both: check the account in the app or online banking, and the card on the PPC portal. They are separate.
If you are not sure which type you hold, ask your employer. Ratibi and other salary cards are issued through employers under the Wage Protection System (WPS). See our Ratibi card balance check guide and FAB bank balance check guide.
Method 1: FAB Mobile App
The FAB Mobile app is the fastest online method for account holders. It is on the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. After login, your account and card balances appear on the home screen.
The app also manages accounts and cards, shows transactions with logos, categories and smart filters, and sends real-time alerts. You can sign in with fingerprint or face.
Open the app, log in, and look at your account on the home screen. Tap the account for recent transactions. If the app shows no balance for a card, it may be a card-only prepaid product. Use the PPC portal below instead.
Method 2: FAB Online Banking
FAB Personal Online Banking, at bankfab.com, is the best online method on a computer. Log in and open the Accounts view. Your balances, recent transactions and history are shown there. You can also view and download statements.
Go to bankfab.com, sign in, and open Accounts. If you cannot sign in, do not keep guessing your password. FAB locks online banking after 3 unsuccessful login attempts — call 600 52 5500 and the account will be unlocked after verification. Call 600 52 5500 in the UAE, or +971 2 681 1511 from outside the UAE, for help.
Online banking works from anywhere with internet, including abroad. It is best when you want balances plus statements, not just a single figure.
Method 3: PPC Portal for Prepaid and Salary Cards
If you hold a prepaid salary card, the PPC portal is your online method. No registration or app is needed. There are two portals:
- FAB portal: https://ppc.bankfab.com/PPCInquiry/
- Magnati portal: https://ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry/
Magnati is FAB’s payments technology partner. The old PPC NBAD portal is decommissioned. Type the portal address yourself.
The fields vary by portal version. On the Magnati portal the fields are the last 4 digits of the card number, your Card ID, and a CAPTCHA — verified on the live portal. The FAB portal at ppc.bankfab.com asks for the details shown on its own page; enter only what the live page asks for. Your Card ID is a separate reference number printed on the card or on its welcome-envelope carrier. It is not your card number. Enter only what it asks for and submit. Never enter your PIN on a balance-check page.
No Branch Needed — What You Can Do Online
Checking online removes the need for a branch visit in almost every case. You can check an account balance in the app or online banking, check a prepaid card on the PPC portal, and view transactions and statements — all from home, at work, or abroad.
A branch is not needed to see a figure. If something looks wrong — an unexplained transaction, a missing salary, or a blocked card — call 600 52 5500 instead. From abroad, call +971 2 681 1511.
Security: Check Online Without Getting Scammed
FAB warns that it never asks for your PIN, OTP or password via phone, SMS, email or WhatsApp.
Type bankfab.com yourself. Never click a balance-check link in a text or email. Do not enter your PIN, OTP or password on any site other than bankfab.com, the PPC portals above, or the official FAB Mobile app. If a message says your account will be blocked unless you click a link, treat it as fraud. Report it to FAB on 600 52 5500 or by email to atyourservice@bankfab.com — the address FAB publishes on its official fraud and security page.
FAB does not offer balance checks via WhatsApp, and WhatsApp balance-check messages are fraudulent. In 2026 the Central Bank of the UAE directed all UAE banks to stop using WhatsApp for customer communication and financial services. Never share your PIN or OTP on WhatsApp.
SMS banking works from your registered mobile number: text BAL plus the last four digits of your account to 2121. The short code 2121 is confirmed on bankfab.com’s official FAQ, and BAL is the keyword in the majority of independent guides (one guide gives ABAL instead). If it does not work, your number may not be registered for SMS banking — call 600 52 5500.
Online or ATM? When to Use Each
Online methods are best with internet, at home, at work, or abroad. The app is fastest on a phone; online banking is best on a computer; the PPC portal is the only online method for prepaid salary cards.
ATMs are best with no internet, no phone battery, or no smartphone. At a FAB ATM, insert your card, enter your PIN, and select Balance Inquiry. Checks at FAB ATMs are free; a balance enquiry at another UAE bank’s ATM costs AED 1 per transaction under FAB’s official schedule of charges. See our balance enquiry guide and FAB Balance Check.
