NBAD Balance Inquiry

NBAD no longer exists. If you are searching for an NBAD balance inquiry, your account is now a First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) account, and you check it with FAB’s methods. There is no NBAD app, no NBAD online banking portal, and no NBAD balance service any more. This guide explains what happened in the merger, how to check your balance today, and what to do with old NBAD cards.

For the main guide to every FAB balance method, see FAB Balance Check.

What happened to NBAD?

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) merged with First Gulf Bank (FGB) in April 2017 to form First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB). NBAD no longer exists as a separate bank. FAB is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE, and its official website is https://www.bankfab.com.

Former NBAD account holders became FAB account holders at the merger. Account numbers and cards transferred automatically. You did not need to open a new account, and you do not need to open one now. If you held an NBAD account, it is a FAB account today, under the same account number unless FAB told you otherwise. If you are unsure, call FAB on 600 52 5500 and ask them to confirm your account.

The old NBAD portals are dead

There is no separate NBAD online banking portal any more. Old NBAD portal URLs redirect to bankfab.com or are dead. Do not search for an NBAD login page, and do not enter your details on any site that claims to be NBAD online banking. The only official FAB website is bankfab.com. Type it yourself. Never follow a link from a text message or an email.

The same applies to prepaid cards. The old PPC NBAD portal is decommissioned. The active prepaid portal is PPC Magnati, at https://ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry/, alongside the FAB portal at https://ppc.bankfab.com/PPCInquiry/. Old “Ratibi NBAD” cards carried over into FAB and Magnati after the 2017 merger. Check them on the current portals, as explained below.

How to check your balance now: FAB app

The easiest method for former NBAD account holders is the FAB Mobile app, available on the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. After login, your account balance appears on the home screen, with transactions listed below. The app also lets you manage accounts and debit and credit cards, view transactions with logos, categories and smart filters, receive real-time alerts, and sign up for a product with just an Emirates ID.

If you never set up the FAB app, download it and register with your FAB account details. Your old NBAD login does not work. Use your current FAB credentials. If you have forgotten them, use the app’s recovery options or call 600 52 5500. Do not share your password or OTP with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from the bank.

How to check: online banking and ATM

FAB Online Banking at bankfab.com is the second main method. Log in through the official site, go to Accounts, and you will see your balance, statements and transaction history. This is the best option if you want a full statement rather than a quick balance.

You can also check at a FAB ATM. Insert your card, enter your PIN, and select Balance Inquiry or a mini-statement. FAB ATMs are free for this check. A balance enquiry at another UAE bank’s ATM costs AED 1 per transaction under FAB’s official schedule of charges. Cover the keypad when you type your PIN.

Phone banking is the fourth method. Call FAB customer care on 600 52 5500 in the UAE, or +971 2 681 1511 from outside the UAE. These numbers are verified live on bankfab.com. Have your account or card details ready, and never read out your PIN or OTP on a call you did not make yourself.

Old NBAD cards: what still works

Old NBAD debit and credit cards were replaced by FAB cards after the merger. If you still hold an old NBAD card, check whether it is still valid. A card with an expiry date in the past will not work, and you will need a replacement FAB card. Contact FAB on 600 52 5500 to ask for one.

Old NBAD prepaid and Ratibi cards are different. They carried over to FAB and Magnati, and you check them on the PPC portals, not in the FAB app. The FAB app may not show a balance for a card-only product. Use https://ppc.bankfab.com/PPCInquiry/ or https://ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry/. The Magnati version asks for the last 4 digits of the card, your Card ID, and a CAPTCHA. The FAB PPC version asks for the 16-digit card number and CVV. The Card ID is a separate reference number printed on the card or on its welcome-envelope carrier. It is NOT the card number. The portal never asks for your PIN or OTP. For the full card guide, see Prepaid Card Enquiry.

SMS and other methods

Former NBAD customers can check a balance by texting BAL followed by the last 4 account digits to 2121 from the registered mobile number. The short code 2121 is confirmed on bankfab.com’s official FAQ, and BAL is the keyword in the majority of independent guides (one guide gives ABAL instead). If SMS does not work, your number may not be registered for SMS banking — call 600 52 5500. The app, online banking, ATM and phone methods above are confirmed.

FAB does not offer balance checks through WhatsApp. In 2026 the Central Bank of the UAE directed all UAE banks to stop using WhatsApp for customer communication and financial services. Messages offering an NBAD or FAB balance check on WhatsApp should be treated as fraudulent. FAB warns that it never asks for PIN, OTP or password via phone, SMS, email or WhatsApp.

If your account cannot be found

If the app or online banking says your account cannot be found, check first that you are using FAB, not an old NBAD login. Then check that you typed the account or card number correctly. If the problem continues, call 600 52 5500. It is possible your account was closed for inactivity, or that your details need updating — for example, if your Emirates ID expired. Only FAB can confirm this. Do not pay anyone who offers to recover an old NBAD account for a fee.
